GENERAL - The Maverick Region Saturday and Sunday Autocross Series’ will generally be conducted in accordance with the same rules.  Specific differences for each series will be set forth in the event announcements for  those  series’.  The supplemental requirements and procedures will comprise a part of these general rules.

All entrants must complete an INITIAL CLASSIFICATION FORM to run in any event of either series.

A designated time and place will be announced at the beginning of the season for drivers to bring their cars and safety equipment for tech inspection and verification of classification.

CLASSIFICATION - Maverick Region classification is based upon the 1999 PCRs (Parade Competition Rules), structured subject to Maverick Region exceptions as set forth in these rules.  If a subject is not specifically set forth in these rules, then the PCRs will apply.

Each driver will complete a classification form with points assessed per the current rules.  In addition, it will be the responsibility of the driver to inform the Competition Committee and registrar of any changes/modifications and the corresponding points as the season progresses.  This should be done via the submission of a new classification form.

CLASSES - There will be thirty five (35) classes of cars and two divisions of drivers within those  car classes, Women’s division and Men’s division.  Minimum class size is one car per class.  There will be no bumping.

STREET STOCK & SUPER STREET STOCK CLASSESEach Production class (1-9) will have a “S” & “SS” class. The “S” class is for production cars with no modifications and street tires (tire wear rating 100 and greater). SS class is for production cars with modifications and on street tires (tire wear rating 100 and greater)

DEVELOPING DRIVERS CLASS - This offers an opportunity for newer drivers to develop their enthusiasm and driving skills in an educational atmosphere.

Participation in the Developing Driver class is voluntary.  Individuals are allowed one entry into the Developing Driver category.  Once a driver elects to enter (return to) the regular class structure, they are barred from returning to the Developing Driver class for that season.  Participants may remain in the Developing Driver class as long as they desire.

Trophies will be awarded for the Developing Driver class.  Drivers participating in a minimum of three events as a Developing Driver will be awarded a participant's trophy.  An individual may qualify for a regular series trophies if they move from the Developing Driver class to a regular class during the season.  However, no individual can trophy in both classes.  Points or times do not carry forward from the Developing Driver class into the regular class.  Developing Driver times will not be scored in the Top Driver competition.

EXHIBITION CLASS - Participants in this class will qualify as participating, however no points will be received in any class.  This class is open to any car.  There is no limitation on the number of times, during the season, an entrant may run this class.  Non Porsches will compete in the exhibition class.  The exhibition class will not be scored in the Series points or Top Driver Competition.

SAFETY - At a minimum, long sleeve cotton shirts and full length cotton pants are required for Saturday autocrosses and are recommended, but not required, for Sunday autocrosses.  See PCRs for other requirements including, but not limited to: full shoes, windows, roof panels, seat belts and loose objects.  You may not compete in a car that has not passed Tech inspection.  Prior to presenting your car at the track, please empty your car of all loose objects and check for proper fluid levels, fluid leakage and tire condition.  Most current Snell approved, or the first Snell prior approved helmet will be required.  However, we strongly recommend if you are purchasing a new helmet that you invest in one with a Snell M or SA 2000 or later approval sticker.

Window levels are to be at each driver's discretion.  Doors must be unlocked.

TECH INSPECTION - Technical inspections will be handled at two locations which will be announced in Slipstream.  The Wednesday prior to the event weekend are the standard days/evenings.  A driver’s car must be presented at  this Tech session in order to run the event.  If you are unable to attend, you must contact the event chairperson and receive permission to tech at the track.  If neither procedure is followed, the chairperson has the authority to refuse that driver's participation in that event.  All cars will have a sticker indicating it has been inspected and has passed.  A car will not be allowed on grid if the proper safety sticker is not present.  This sticker will be placed on the windshield or other suitable place.

PROTESTS - Since the PCRs do not adequately meet Maverick Region's needs, the following are the guidelines for stating a protest.  In the event there is a challenge concerning a car's classification, any member may bring that challenge to the attention of a Competition Committee member.  The protest must be in writing and must be presented within 30 minutes of the last timed run of that day's event.  The protest will be specific to that event only.  The event chairpersons are automatically part of this committee.  The Competition Committee will form a protest team of at least 3 Committee members who will be responsible for resolving the issue at hand and will notify both the protester(s) and protestee of their decision and ruling on the protest.  The Committee's decision must be in writing and within one week of the protest. Should either party be dissatisfied with the outcome, they may appeal in writing to the full Competition Committee for resolution.  The appeal must be submitted within one week of the notification of the Committee's decision.  The decision of the competition committee is final.

NOVICE PROCEDURES - The novice procedures apply only  to the Saturday Autocross.  You will NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE TRACK WITHOUT HAVING NOVICE ORIENTATION, which is designed to familiarize you with the course and Maverick Region procedures.  If you have not run a Maverick Region Saturday Autocross, you will be required to complete the Novice orientation prior to competing at the event.  Novice entrants must notify the event chairperson IN ADVANCE OF THE PRE-TECH DATE for the event in order to assure that Novice orientation can be completed.  It is essential that novice entrants in the Metroplex area attend the novice orientation that is conducted in conjunction with Pre-Tech inspection (contact the registrar for location).  All non-driving procedures will be covered at that time and will comprise part of the novice training.  Non-local novices will receive pre-tech and non-driving procedure orientation by specific prearrangement with the event chairperson.  All novices will also receive on track familiarization with an instructor in the car to complete the novice training.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SERIES AWARDS - An entrant must participate in a majority of each series’ events or one more than half of the events if there is an even number of events held in order to qualify for a series award.  If an entry is protested and upheld, that event’s points and participation do not qualify towards the series. Any event participation  (except an upheld protest) counts towards a trophy in the Maverick Region. Year end results are based upon the following:

Total events held
Events counted
(1 thru 5)
One less than the total number held
(6 thru 11)
Two less than the total number held
12 or more
Three less than the total number held

Only one trophy per series per participant is allowed.  Points do not carry over from one class to another, but participation does. All rule changes must be published by the previous years competition committee in Slipstream by the first event .

TOP DRIVER SERIES AWARD -  The Top Driver Series was created to stimulate participation in both the Saturday and Sunday Autocross Series.  To qualify for the Top Driver Awards the best five (5) indexes from each series, without regard to class, are used to calculate the Top Driver Award.  If the entrant has less than 5 indexes from each event the entrant’s total is still divided by 10. The driver index is calculated 1st by determining a qualifying time.  A qualifying time must be within 115% of the average.  The driver index is the ratio between the drivers time and the average of the qualifying times in class. Average qualifying times contain all drivers for calculation of the index.  Two Top Driver awards will be awarded each year, one to the man with the top men’s index and one to the woman with the top women’s index.
The PCRs concerning the following items are not specific enough to satisfy Maverick Region's needs.  These items have been expounded upon by Maverick Region and do not conform entirely to the PCRs.

DEFINITION OF EXCESSIVE LIGHTENING:

PRODUCTION CLASS: A car classified in the production class may weigh 2% less than the stated weight of that model car as listed in the PCRs. This is to compensate for items allowed as free modifications.  Any production classed car that is 2% lighter, but less than 4% lighter, will be assessed 1 point in Class A.  Any production classed car that is over 4% in weight reduction will automatically be progressed to the corresponding Improved class for that model.

IMPROVED CLASS: A car classified in the Improved class may weigh up to 8% less than the stated weight of
that model car listed in the PCRs.

FENDER MODIFICATIONS: This modification is not allowed in production classes.  This modification is free in the Improved and Modified classes per PCRs D 2.4 (modifications allowed).

17" wheels will follow 1998 PCRs.

FIFTY SERIES TIRE RULE: A car may run with under 50 series tires without incurring penalty points. All other fender, wheel, and tire rules apply, ie. wheel width and diameter. This rule overrides PCR D 2.4.7(d).This allows drivers to participate in out of region driving events without an extra set of wheels and tires just for Maverick Region’s events.

MODIFICATION POINTS: - There are modifications allowed that do not incur any point penalties. (See PCRs).  There are degrees of modifications allowed that carry points for progression to another class.  Some modifications do carry handicap point penalties that may progress a car more than one class.  Some of the items contained in COLUMN A, COLUMN B, and COLUMN C are redundant of those listed in the PCRs and have been listed here as they are considered to be the more commonly occurring items in the Maverick Region.  Some items are specific to the Maverick Region.

CLASS INCREMENT RULES:

COLUMN A: You will remain in a base class if you have no more than five (5) points from Column A (Base List - referred to as Production Class in the PCRs and NO points from Column B or Column C.

COLUMN B: 1st Increment: You will progress from the base class if you have any points from Column B or if you have from 1 - 5 points, from Column B and no more than 10 points from Column A and Column B combined.

2nd Increment: You will progress Two Class Increments from the base class if you have more than 5 points from Column B or a total of 11-14 points from Column A and Column B combined.

COLUMN C: 3rd Increment: You will be progressed Three Class Increments from the base class if you have more than 14 points in total from Column A and Column B combined or any points from Column C.

All cars will participate with the class in which their vehicle is classified.
