Tours

Maverick Region Tours are gatherings of PCA members and guests who meet up at a defined starting location and drive together, along an interesting route, to enjoy a unique place or destination. Tours generally last about three hours. Come join the fun and see this rolling car show!

This year we have five Tours spaced throughout the twelve months. All of the Tours are "near to home", and provide members with a beautiful scenic drive to a fun destination! Any PCA members can participate in a tour for FREE. Some tours include a catered meal which you may choose to purchase.

Our Tourmeisters are Bill Orr and Mark Pitarresi. To obtain e-mail notifications of the Tours, please e-mail them at: tours@mavpca.org.

The third PCA Tour of the season takes us to Fortunata Winery in Aubrey, Texas. The winery was the destination of the Halloween Gimmick Rally last fall and the participants liked it so much we decided to add it to the PCA Tours schedule this year.

It's a little bit of Tuscany in Texas, the main building is set in the woods with a front and back patio area to have a great glass of wine and enjoy some authentic Italian food. We have chosen May 20th for this tour and the weather forecast is sunny with temperatures in the low to mid 80's. It should be a perfect day to go for a drive and enjoy some authentic Italian cuisine.

The tour starts at Westgate Shopping Center on 75 and West Louisiana Street in McKinney at 10am. We then travel north, then east, and then south down to Aubrey. It's about a 72 mile trip that ends at Fortunata Winery or lunch. We should arrive at the winery sometime around 1pm. In addition to its wine, Fortunata Winery is known for their brick oven pizzas but due to our large group they have opted to offer an Italian buffet with either a Vegetarian Lasagna or Italian Pasta. Both come with bread and a side salad. So stay for lunch, or if you prefer, just do a little wine tasting. Cheese boards are also available.

If you are not interested in staying for luncsh then there are many independent and chain restaurants in the area. The winery is located just a few miles north of highway 380. Its 11 miles from Downtown Denton, 16 miles from Frisco, and 23 miles from Downtown McKinney.

If you plan to attend the Tour, it is imperative that you RSVP before the Tour. When you RSVP, it gives us an accurate count to alert the managers of the winery so that they can be prepared; plus, three days before the Tour, you will receive an e-mail with the following attachments: a Garmin .gdb file of the route, a route overview, and turn-by-turn instructions.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to send me an email at tours@mavpca.org. I hope to see you and your Porsche at the Fortunata Winery Tour! If you can't make it be sure to check out our schedule of future tours down below.
