Maverick Region PCA Sunday Drives

Maverick Region Tours are called "Sunday Drives." A Sunday Drive is a Sunday afternoon gathering of Porsche Club members & guests who meet up at a defined starting location and drive together, along an interesting route, to enjoy a unique place or destination. The Drives generally last about three hours and end at an interesting restaurant. Come join the fun and see this rolling car show!

The board member chair for these events is Clint Blackman. To obtain e-mail notifications of the Sunday Drives, please e-mail Clint at: cb3law@sbcglobal.net.

2009 Sunday Drive Dates

  • 3-22-09 Drive to Denision, Texas.
Our first Sunday drive will be a "thru the country" drive to downtown Denision, Texas. The drive itself will be fun as we have a route that takes us down some great country roads and past some little towns that time has almost forgotten. Our destination is downtown Denision. The downtown area has been restored with interesting sights and shops. We have a great restaurant stop for a snack before returning back home.
  • 4-12-09 The Bluebonnet Drive.
This has become a annual Sunday Drive tradition because the flowers are so beautiful and the rolling hills are just so much to drive. This has always been a big hit with all Mavericks. As always, we will have a great snack stop for our "end of tour" group gathering.
  • 5-17-09 The Denton Bridges Drive.
Our tour group will again "go back in time" to see the antique bridges of Texas. North Texas has some of the most interesting "out in the country" old bridges. We will take a fun drive winding around Denton to see these old treasures. Rumor has it that our snack stop will be a famous place!
  • 7-12-09 Muenster Drive CHANGED - Frontiers of Flight Museum
This is a terrific aviation museum with local and international aviation exhibits. One of the highlights is a large Apollo moon mission exhibit. This will be a "meet you there" Sunday Drive. The Museum is expecting our group and we will have a tour guide. We are going to meet at the museum starting at 3:00pm and we will be given a group tour sometime around 3:15pm. After the tour we will adjourn to meet at a nearby Sonic Drive-in for cold refreshment and more "Car Talk".
  • 9-20-09 The DE Sunday Drive.
So many Mavericks enjoyed our last introduction to our drivers education program that it deserved a repeat performance. Why... the tour was an education just hearing Colin Graidage teach the fundamentals of sports car driving...the English way! No kidding, this is a great event to see really super sports cars at Motorsport Ranch and actually drive on the road track.
  • 10-25-09 Mineral Wells Drive.
Ok, admit it...you have always wanted to have a sip of the mineral water in Mineral Wells. Well we are going to "take the waters" and drive the scenic roads around this old Texas town. Don't for get to bring an empty canteen! This water is "garonteed" to put "vem n' vigor" back in yor step...they don't call it "crazy water" for nuthin! Come join the fun....
  • 12-13-09 The Christmas Lights Drive.
Have you ever seen a million Christmas lights on one tree? Well come join your Maverick friends as we bundle up for "carriage ride" through the homes of Turtle Creek and Highland Park. This is a trip of "Ooohs" and "Ahhs" as we see one of the best light shows in the metroplex. Hot chocolate with marsh mellows are the drink of choice as we finish the year with Porsche's version of a winter sleigh ride!

We have seven "drives" spaced throughout the twelve months. All of the drives are "near to home" but provide our drivers with an interesting route to a unique destination.

Is there any interest in an overnight tour to the mountains of Southeastern Oklahoma?
