Maverick Region Tours are gatherings of PCA members and guests who meet up at a defined starting location and drive together, along an interesting route, to enjoy a unique place or destination. Tours generally last about three hours. Come join the fun and see this rolling car show!
This year we have five Tours spaced throughout the twelve months. All of the Tours are "near to home", and provide members with a beautiful scenic drive to a fun destination! Any PCA members can participate in a tour for FREE. Some tours include a catered meal which you may choose to purchase.
Our Tourmeisters are Bill Orr and Mark Pitarresi. To obtain e-mail notifications of the Tours, please e-mail them at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
2017 Ennis Bluebonnets Tour
|"Wake Up and Smell the Flowers"|
|When :||Saturday, April 15th, 2017, 10am - 1pm|
|Start :||Former Bank of America parking lot, 101 S. Hwy 45, Hutchins|
|Ends :||Bubba's BBQ, 210 S.Hwy 45, Ennis|
The second PCA Tour of the season takes us to Ennis, the official Bluebonnet City of Texas. Each year, thousands of people flock to this small town south of Dallas to view some 40 miles of bluebonnet trails and to attend the festival that celebrates this natural wonder.
Typically the bluebonnets peak around the third week of April. However, this can vary year to year due to weather conditions and terrain, so we have chosen Sunday, April 15 for this yearís Tour. Thatís a week after the big Bluebonnet Festival and midway through the month, so hopefully the traffic will be light and the bluebonnets will be in bloom.
The tour starts at an old Bank of America building on the corner of I-45 and Palestine St in Hutchens at 10 am and proceeds south through the cities of Ferris, Palmer, and finally Ennis. Itís a roughly 86-mile trip that ends at Bubba's BBQ & Steakhouse on I-45 for lunch. We should arrive at the restaurant sometime around noon. If BBQ is not to your liking, you are free to try one of the many independent and chain restaurants in the area. Bubbaís can only hold about 110 people, so please let us know if you plan to stay for lunch when you register.
Speaking of registration: the tours have become so popular that managing these large groups has become somewhat complicated, and registering via email just doesnít work very well. In an effort to streamline the process and still keep it easy to use, I have created a form on the Maverick Region website that I can customize for each tour. Moving forward, all registration will be done through http://mav.pca.org/register/tours/.
If you plan to attend the Tour, it is imperative that you RSVP before the Tour. When you RSVP, it gives us an accurate count to alert the managers of the restaurant so that they can be prepared. Additionally, three days before the Tour, you will receive an e-mail with a Garmin .gdb file of the route, a route overview, and turn-byturn instructions.
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me at email@example.com. I hope to see you and your Porsche at the Ennis Bluebonnet Tour! If you canít make it be sure to check out our schedule of future tours at http://mav.pca.org/go/tours.
