This is a type of gimmick rally, run on public roads at legal speeds, sometimes known as a Lime Run. It consists of one Hare (the Rallymaster) and a bunch of Hounds (the Competitors). The Hare lays out a route from one location to another, placing a marker (traditionally by throwing a bag of lime or flour on the ground) at each intersection where he decides to make a turn.
The Hare then places a confirming marker a couple of tenths of a mile down the road that he turned onto, in order to let the Hounds know that they are still "on the scent". Hounds that make a wrong turn will know very quickly because they will not see the confirmation marker, and will have to return to the intersection to choose another direction. The winning Hound is the one whose elapsed mileage is closest to that of the Hare.
The Hounds are neither expected nor encouraged to "catch" the Hare - this is a distance event, not based on time or speed.
These events can be run day or night. When run at night, lime or flour markers are difficult to see, so this one will be using Glow-Sticks as decision markers and confirmation markers. The route will be mostly in rural Collin and Denton counties, so the markers should be easy to spot. More difficult will be trying to guess which way the Hare turned!
